Invisalign®

Align Technology designs, manufactures and markets Invisalign®, a proprietary method for treating malocclusion, or the misalignment of teeth. Invisalign corrects malocclusion using a series of clear, removable appliances that gently move teeth to a desired final position. Because it does not rely on the use of metal or ceramic brackets and wires, Invisalign significantly reduces the aesthetic and other limitations associated with braces. Invisalign also offers dental professionals a new means of carrying out their diagnosis and treatment planning processes.

Invisalign consists of two components: ClinCheck™ and Aligners. ClinCheck is an Internet-based application that allows dental professionals to diagnose and plan treatment for their patients. Aligners are thin, clear plastic, removable dental appliances that correspond to each stage of the ClinCheck simulation. Each custom-manufactured Aligner is worn over the teeth for two weeks before being disposed of and replaced by the next Aligner, until the last Aligner in the series is worn and treatment is complete.
